Ya Ali Madad,
I have been wondering the past couple of days, how exactly was the Qur'an revealed to the people? The Prophet (sawaws) would receive revelations and there were times that he would call together the Jamat to reveal and recite them. However, he did not do this for most ayats to my knowledge. There were a few companions that would hear many of the ayats, but do we just trust that they memorized the whole Qur'an as revealed and knew to differentiate between Qur'an and hadiths, and were there to ensure that the Qur'an compiled by Uthman contained all ayats with 100% accuracy?
While my question has implications for whether the Qur'an is complete, I am not asking that directly. I want to know how are we certain that Uthman and co knew exactly what was Qur'an and what was hadiths, as sometimes these overlap, such as 33.33 (purification verse of ahl-e-bayt) and hadiths of that verse, and sometimes they dont. I dont care for authentication by scholars a couple centuries later of whether what we have in Qur'an is actually there or not.
Are we so sure that the hadith, for example, of "He who dies without knowing the Imam of the time dies the death of a jahaliya" was not Qur'an, but was only hadith?
