I dont believe there is any Farman forbidding an Ismaili from undergoing plastic surgery.

Shallow would depend upon what kind of surgery for what reason.

If there is some kind of disfigurement that is making life difficult due to social consequences, I would say sure if you can afford it.

If it is for vanity reasons then I think it is a waste of money and an unnecessary risk.

my wife had seen a lady who had travelled to another state for the surgery and had completely changed her appearance for the worse.

Infections, scarring, pain, anaesthesia complications and a waste of money are a few reasons not to go for unnecessary surgery.

I personally know someone who had almost 5 kilos of fat sucked out and today weighs more than she did before the surgery.

If that money can feed hungry dying children in Afghanistan how are we going to explain to Mowla on the Day of Judgement the reason to chose some plastic surgery over the feeding of Muslim children.

Now I am not saying that I do not waste money on unnecessary luxuries occasionally but the risks of platic surgery are like saying "Aa bail mujhe maar"
