Hi...
Wanted to have some confirmation on whether ismailis or muslims in general can or are allowed to keep pets specially dogs???..
Is there any specific mention on it by prophet or our imams to have or to not have them as pets?

If you have pet animals you have to take care of them and love them.
Muslims are allowed to keep pets there is not any thing wrong in that. Yes there are false hadiths which are against dogs and many muslims think that these are true but they are totally wrong.Islam do not say to hate animals. According to one hadith a woman went paradise just because she gave water to a thirsty dog.
