I am wondering where I can find *any* learning material on the Philosophy of our Du'a?
My khana only sells Du'a translation books but no interpretation into the meaning of our Du'a. I'm searching for explanation of what the English translation means, the historical background, the parables, the metaphors, etc.
I have an old cassette entitled "Philosophy of Du'a" by Hunzai, but its all in the urdu language....that my parents can somewhat comprehend... but I can't understand a word of it.
Are there any Alwayzeen's out there who sell any English casettes or cd's that give some insight into the meaning of the Du'a?
Anybody?

In short, here is my rudimentary explanation on the dua, perhaps someone else with a lot more knowledge than I, will be able to compound, expound on it, or refute it all together.
Here goes,
The dua is constructed very beautifully.
1st Part - we are told about Allah - the lord of the worlds...we ask to be guided to the right path, we offer our allegiance (I prostrate before thee).
2nd Part - we are told to obey allah/the apostles, and most of all we are told about the manifest Imam. We ask to be in the Peace, be endowed with the Peace...and we are told about Muhammed and we ask Ali to help us.
3rd Part - Sura Maida - we are told where to look for the manifest Imam (the historical event of Hajjatul Vidah). We are given further attributes of Allah, and we are told of the Hero Ali and his sword Zulfiqar, and once again we are told TAWASALU INDAL MASAHIBI, MOWLA KUMIN HAZIRIL MAUJUD - to seek at the time of difficulties the help of your lord, the Ever Living/ever present Imam.
4th Part - Sura Fatah - we are told how to give baiyat, and how after giving baiyat - not to break baiyat.
5th Part - we are told about betrayal and not to betray the Imam.
6th Part - Suratul Ikhlas - the secret of allah - and the silsala - the rope of imamat, from the 1st historically declared imam to the present imam, reminding us of the continuity of the legacy of the holy prophet.
Sorry for a haphazard job, i hope this is what you were looking for.
This dua was given to us last century. Prior to this we used to recite the Dua given to us by Pir Sadardin, with a few additions by Pir Sarkar Aga Ali Shah.
