Traditionally, we used to have a Takht in Jamatkhanas. There is a famous photo of Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah on his Takht when still young, when he became Imam.
It is also said that once Mowlana Shah Karim came to Nairobi for Didar and the Takht was put in the back of the hall while a podium was prepared in the front for the Imam to seat. The Jamat was facing the podium. However when the Imam entered, he preferred to seat on the Takht and the Jamat had to turn 180 degree to face the Takht on which Imam sat.
Here is an interesting Talika acknowledging a gift of a Takht for the Kisumu Jamatkhana in 1966 and the happiness of our Imam to have received this gift.
