There has been discussion on these matters under the topic: "An Interpretation of the Ghat Paat Ceremonies" of this forum. You may want to go there.

I think I had posted this before regarding some UK JKs serve chocolate but I don't know if there was a Farman was given or guidance during meetings with The Imam. May be someone can post more info on this matter and enlighten us all.

Okay so what is a big deal if they are serving chocolate instead of sukreet? And why do you need farman or guidance on this? You are also claiming "I don't know if..." are you suggesting that you have been attending all those meetings between the Imam and your local leaders and some how they have adapted this practice from nowhere, because you personally have not heared Imam say that? Why can't you accept what is given to you in the house of Ali? That is I suppose you are attending at your own will?

I fail to see your point brother.

I think someone had mentioned that YOU NEED A FARMAN TO MAKE SUCH CHANGES!!!
I don't mean to get your feathers ruffled but how this to start with:
Dec2002-Jan2003 Council meeting word of the topic "Urzie" or "urjie" a murid's communication to murshid it was further discussed that if a letter for The Imam was sent by a Jameti Member it must be read and if it is health related then it must be forward it to the health board first...
I think if that is not good enough for you how about 1964 Dacca East Pakistan, Imam's meeting with the Council and Leaders "...you must move the Jamet to Islamabad." Councilors, "...but Khudavind, we don't have contacts in Islamabad and also it is too costly...can we migrate to Karachi?" Imam replied ...find just get them to the West (Pakistan).
Now if you look at the folks who ended up in Islamabad and Karachi, You'd have to say is that Islamabad settlers faced far less hardships than who went to Karachi.
There are countless examples of these (Uganda being the big one) that you have no clue of. And my advice to you would be to just relax and think and think again before you even start to think and than state your point.

Regarding question:Okay so what is a big deal if they are serving chocolate instead of sukreet? And why do you need farman or guidance on this?

As per Farman if Imam says day then it is day and if He say night then it is night so there is always need of Farman.
If Pir has taught method of making Sukreet then I think no one else has right except the Pir or Imam to make changes in Sukreet and start giving chocolate, pudding, custar or any sweet dish in name of Sukreet.
Chocolate may be served as Sukreet only if there is permission or Farman of Imam or Pir about that.

I'm not from UK so I'm not going to get myself involved in this (I take my above post back). If you are, then get your facts straight by directly checking with someone responsible before you make any statements on the web for everyone else to read and comment.

Unalhaq post sounds like he's from UK and he's checking on the web why his jamat is serving chocolates instead of sukreet.

As far as I'm concerned, I won't question anything that comes out of my Imam's house. I may think about it, but I won't question. The worldly matters are not forced upon us, and you either believe in spiritual matters or you don't, you have no choice.

Your mixing of dacca incident along with sukreet (two different topics altogether) makes me think you need to keep yourself within the context here on this board. I won't advice you to think, I advice you to read.

Surkeet has not be serve to the my local jamat for over a year now.The reason is because surkeet makes the carpet dirty.Instead we are given small chcolate in my own opinion make the carpet and the wall .I think we are losing the tradition as we became more westernise eg clothing, music, and media influences.including magazine.Girls magazine talk about sex, boyfreinds trouble and drugs.Maybe that the reason why uk has the highest pregantcy rates for under 16.

In the past we had takhah (the red cube) in the jamatkhana.we have the ismaili flag outside jk.We had ismaili friends to socialise within our traditional language.now we have children who don't even speak our traditional language.this is due to westernisation but. i am not say mutli culture is bad.i am saying that the old traditions are changing.

In my local jamat we not allowed to bring milk bottles for nandi because it might break. Some people pay about 10 pounds just to come to jk.There is only 38 car park spaces to accomadate for 500 people. The jk is out of town and there is no shops near by.The jamat is on a slope so when it rains it surface is very slipery.

The location of the jamat also may discoutrage member of the jamat

.If this trend continue ismaili will lose their imam.

I aplogise if i have gone of the tangent.

There is carpet in most of the Jamat Khanas of different countries of the world but still sukreet is served in same manner as taught by Pir Sadardin and until and unless Imam/Pir not make any change in its method or form no any other can do it. You can request or discuss it with Mukhi of your JK or council regarding this issue. If there is permission acquired by Hazir Imam then its oo otherwise its not.
The word sukreet is of sanskrit language which means good deeds. The ingredients of Sukreet give lessons or things to learn. I dont think the same can be with chocolate.
I think being westernizing and in wearing western clothes there isnt any thing wrong but when it comes to religious rites and ceremonies only it is the right of Imam and Pir to make changes in it.

I've seen many people sharing sukreet.
Is it alright to share sukreet with someone...??

Sukreet is a blessing. Sharing whatever blessing we have received can only bring more blessings.
