It is in verse 79/80
Do not listen to music or singing, nor watch theatrical performances as they lead to depravity and loss of religious discipline
So is it sin? I think there must be different meaning of it..Share your views

I think there are two kinds of music and plays. On the one hand we have those that have artistic merit in the sense that they inspire and elevate the minds towards higher realms. On the other hand, we have those that arouse sensuality and attraction to worldly pleasures which result in the loss of discipline. The Pir is referring to the later.
MHI has attended musical and theatrical performances by Ismaili artists. Hence all music and plays are not harmful.

Also it is in Memoirs of Aga Khan that,"Both my wife and I are devoted to the theatre, the opera and the ballet. In the towns like London and Paris we go to the one or the other four of five times a week and usually take a few friends with us. In places like Cannes we occasionaly go to the local theatre during the season__some times to the nice opera or to Montecarlo or similar places."
