We are mostly going into debate few 100 n few thousand year back.
In his Golden jubilee farman, MHI mentioned care n activities for seniors
in our jamat.
I have observed many countries have programes and actvities n connect with jamat n volunteer for seniors.
Living age is going up in all countries upto 85 years in many countries.
many companies n countries will go bankrupt to service n look after senior pension or dole amount.
in india now 8% of population is above 60 years ,it will be 20% by 2050.
in western counties it will 35-45% of the population.
Asiatic (desi) families have traditions n culture for looking after elders in own family.this may go down in years to come.
In future there will definative need if senior homes in many countries.
with great weather.n medical facilities like portugal,kenya,India (hill station) .
I know of one trust runnining a senior home in outskirt of mumbai with 28 beds,they have 200 person on waiting list to enter it.
They do excellent job at US$ 75 per resident per month staying there.
I feel in coming diamond jubilee years we can look forward to planning of physical assets for seniors.
better use of time n knowledge n kind can be used for it.
I wish to know from members with positive inputs.
1.does your country have plan for senior homes?
2.Is there any national or international level think tank or steering commitee for it.?
3. can any ismaili member like us give our inputs for it.if allowed ?
An informal general survey show that 25% of parents above 60 year do not wish to stay with children,it can only go up in future.
I feel we would be better off giving logical inputs for reality living future than debate what was centuries old all the time
