Sirat-e-Mustakeem & Gumrah (Misleed)
What does these mean to Ismaili?
Siratul Mustaqueem and Gumrah
A simple answer to this would be: Siratul Mustaqueem means FarmanBardari which involves practicing your faith with knowledge and understanding and being ethical in thought and deed. After all ours is a faith which places more emphasis on the intellect. Hence, the intent is more important than action. One could be performing the most noble deed outwardly, but if the intent is sinister than that act is evil.
Conversely Gumrah is Na Farmani.
Conversely Gumrah is Na Farmani.
Intent
The purity of the intent is a reflection of the state of the Heart of that person.
Since our faith is practiced in our thoughts, doing so purifies the heart because through noorani thoughts it purifies our intents hence our Hearts.
And
in a completely purified heart resides The Imam
Salvat pado alamiria!
I think I must have been a missionary in a previous life

Sirat-e-mustaqim & Goomrahi
You are right Karim. Sirat means Path or Raasta( In Urdu)on which you have to walk to reach your destination but the path should be right that is “Mustaqim”otherwise you will be misguided. Because other paths also leads to that destination but it is impossible to achieve your destination as Satan showers many types of rainfall (Fitnah) on this path and prevent Momin to reach the destination. “On the path that leads to the clean-pure land of the seventh heaven from this ocean-like world, Satan showers many types of rainfall. By causing disunity (Fitnah), enimity, lies etc, he showers thousands of rainfall and does not allow Momin to reach the clean-pure land”. (K.I.M. !). Therefore Sirat-e-Mustaqim is the only shortcut path to reach there. But what is Sirat-e-m-Mustaqim. Sirat means path and that is “FIRMAN” and Mustaqim means True and that is “IMAM”. So Sirat-e-Mustaqim is nothing but the firman of Imam, upon that path if you walk or act accordingly, you will achieve your abode of Asal Makaan. Now what firman says about Sirat-e-Mustaqim.
“ Sidho resto konaiy kehvai, tevoney bhaan nathee. Sidho resto to tenaiy kehvai ke deen na Malik , Imam-e-Zaman hamesha hayyat, qaayem ane mojood chhaiy” (Imam S.M.S). It means what is true path? They are no aware of that. The true path is that the Lord of Deen, Imam of the time is everliving, qaayem and ever present.
Now what is goomrahi or Misleading . According to Kalam-e-Mowla:
“Goomrah hoova way, jeenaiy deen se duniya koon adka chaha;
Ke duniya kaam kertaiy jenaiy deen ka kaam ganyaya.
Pehla toojaiy duniya sirijya, ke aqbat kararn kerlaiy kamaee.
Weh sahi goomrah hoova jenaiy duniya kaaran akabat ganvaee.”
It means one became Goomrah who prefer material world over his Faith. .That he forget to do his religious duty while doing his material being. The material world came into being first before you came into this world so that you do your job for hereafter. The one is actually goomrah in real term who lost the aqabat for this material world.
According to Firman of MHI made at Karachi Dec, 1964.
“Remember that I do firman from time to tome for your worldly success. But I see that most of you are running after worldly things and made material well being as the only sole objective of their lives. Such people have led themselves to wrong path.’
Then what is the True path. The Mowla said further:
“ The true path is that you observe regularity in your prayers (Ibadat) and attain real happiness through concentration.”
Another firman “ If you give more importance to worldly matters than the spiritual matters, then your Iman will go down gradually and then you can not say yourself Imandar”
“ Sidho resto konaiy kehvai, tevoney bhaan nathee. Sidho resto to tenaiy kehvai ke deen na Malik , Imam-e-Zaman hamesha hayyat, qaayem ane mojood chhaiy” (Imam S.M.S). It means what is true path?
