THE SPIRITUAL WORLD
The more awake one is to the material world, the more one is asleep to the spiritual world. Such material wakefulness is worse than sleep, since when our soul is not awake to GOD, our wakefulness closes the door to divine bounty.
RUMI
I let my whole being vibrate with light
Look deep within the center of your heart and find that tiny pinpoint of brilliantly colored light. It is such a beautiful color. It is the very center of your love and healing energy. Watch as your pinpoint of light begins to pulsate and grow until it fills your heart. Let it move through your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes, and through the tips of your fingers. You are absolutely glowing with this beautiful colored light, which is your love and healing energy. Let your body vibrate with this light.
You can even say to yourself: "With every breath I take, I'm getting healthier and healthier."
Feel the light cleansing your body of disease.
Let the light radiate from you into the room into the world and into your special place in the world.
See everthing whole.
You are important. You do count.
What you do with the love in your heart does matter. You do make a difference. And so it is.

I AM FULL OF LOVE TONIGHT
I am full of love tonight
Come look into my eyes, and let's go off
Sailing, my dear , on a long ocean ride.
This would will not touch you,
I will keep you snug upon my seat.
Let's plot
To make the moon jealous
With a radiance leaping from your cheek.
I will be full of love tonight,
Come look into these ancient eyes!
And let's go off sailing, my dear,
With our spirits intertwined.
Your body is just an old sandbar
In a speeding hourglass of time.
Love will turn the mouth of sorrow
Right side up.
Let your heart commence its destined
Laughing chime!
Hafiz will be brimful of love tonight,
Why ever be shy?
Branded with
The Sun!

INTEGRITY
Few
Have the strength
To be a real
Hero--
That rare
Man or woman
Who always keeps
Their Word.
Even an angel needs rest.
Integrity creates a body so vast
A thousand winged ones will
Plead,
"May I lay my cheek
Against
You?"

Emptiness
When you are with everyone but me,
you're with no one.
When you are with no one but me,
you're with everyone.
Instead of being so bound up with everyone,
be everyone.
When you become that many, you're nothing.
Empty.
Lo, I am with you always means when you look for God,
God is in the look of your eyes,
in the thought of looking, nearer to you than your self,
or things that have happened to you
There's no need to go outside.

A SEEING EYE
SINCE YOUR vision is so limited,
Close your eyes and see with the eyes of God.
His sight for ours - what a recompense!
With His divine perception,
You will find everything you desire.
MASNAVI I:921-2
THE EYE is given sight through nearness to God.
EVERYONE, ACCORDING to their spiritual enlightenment, and in proportion to the polishing of their heart's mirror, sees the hidden meaning of things.
The more you polish your heart, the more you see with your inner eye.

A SEEING EYE
OUTER, PHYSICAL, light comes from the sun, while inner
light comes from the reflection of the rays of divine glory.
The light which shines in the eye is really the light of the heart,
while the light which infuses the heart is the light of God,
which is pure and unconnected to the light of intellectual and sense.
MASNAVI I:1125-7
RUMI
MOST PEOPLE are unable to perceive the essence of the
attributes of divine perfection. Nothing in existence is as mysterious as the essence and consciousness of God. His attributes are mysteries; the essence of these attributes are mysteries of mysteries. Those who attain perfection are able to penetrate these mysteries, and so understand the essence of God Himself. They are true lovers of God, and nothing is hidden from them.
MASNAVI III:3650-3
RUMI
WHEN HAVE you done something wrong
without suffering the consequences?
When have you done something good
without blessings being showered upon you?
If you grasp the cord of understanding
and look at this world with a seeing eye,
You will not need to wait till Judgment Day
to see the effects of all your actions.
If you want a pure heart, be observant,
and see for every act its won response.

LIVING IN THE SPIRIT
Union with God will turn your thorns into roses.
Loving Muhammad (s) is ibaadah, part of our religion. He (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) says, "one of would not attain true faith, until you love me more than you love your parents, your children and the whole world."
The ummah today loves Rasul(sallallahu `alayhi wasallam). If you ask any Muslim today, "Do you love the Prophet sallallahu `alayhi wasallam?", He'll say "yes". But the love cannot be very deep and sincere unless you really know the person. If you have shallow information about someone you can't really love them a lot. To love a person you need to know them more. And this is especially true with our Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam), because the more you know him, the more you'd be impressed with his personality and the more you'd love him.
Even with the shallow information that the masses of the Muslims have today about him (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam), the Ummah still loves him. Imagine, if you get to know him even more, and learn his life in details. The whole condition of our Ummah will transform inshaAllah if we truly understand his Seerah. Because we will only truly hav deep love to Rasul (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) unless we know him. The sahabah, the more they knew him, the closer they were to him, the more they love him.
Amr bin Al-aas (radiAllahu `anh) for example, he was one of the staunchest enemies of Rasul(saw) He was one of the top plotters against Islam, Amr bin Al-Aas (ra), later became Muslim and when he was passing away, Amr bin al-Aas(ra) started weeping, he was crying on his death bed. So his son, Abdullah bin Amr told him, "O my father, didn't Rasul(sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) give you the glad tidings? that the Prophet (saw) witnessed that you have Faith (Iman)? " `Amr turned around and responded, "My son, I have been through three stages in my life: at the first stage, the most despised man to me was Rasul (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) and my desire was that if I could get a hold of him, I could get my hands on him and kill him. That was my wish and aspiration, to kill Rasul (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam), if I had died at that time, I'd have definitely been in the hell fire." He then said, "and then Allah put the love of Islam in my heart. and I went to Rasul (sallallahu `alayhi wasallam) and said to him, `Oh Muhammad, I want to become Muslim, extend your hand so that I can pledge allegiance to you ' Then Amr bin Al-Aas says, "Rasul sallallahu `alayhi wasallam extended his hand forward and I pulled my hand away. Rasul sallallahu `alayhi wasallam asked me, what's wrong? and I said, "I have a condition to make", Rasul sallallahu `alayhi wasallam asked his condition and he said, " My condition is that you pardon me (for all my previous crimes)." Rasul smiled and said, "O Amr, Don't you know that Islam erases everything before it, and hijrah erases everything before it, and hajj erases everything before it." Amr bin Al-aas said, so I became Muslim, and at that stage, Muhammad sallallahu `alayhi wasallam, who was my worst enemy became the most beloved person in the world. and I loved him so much and I respected him so much, I couldn't even get a full glimpse of his face. Whenever I would see him, I would stare downwards. And if you would ask me today to describe him to you, I couldn't...".

A LIFE OF FAITH
THE REWARDS of a life of faith and devotion to God are love
and inner rapture, and the capacity to receive the light of God.
MASNAVI II:2601
WHEN YOU put a cargo on board a ship, you make that
venture on trust,
For you do not know whether you will be drowned or
safely reach the other shore.
If you say, "I will not embark till I am certain of my
fate," then you will do no trade: the secret of these
two destinies is never disclosed.
The faint-hearted merchant neither gains nor loses;
nay he loses, for he is deprived of his fortune.
Only those who are zealous in their search, who
faithfully seek the flame, find the light.
Since all affairs turn upon hope, surely faith is the
worthiest object of hope, for thereby you win
salvation.

A LIFE OF FAITH
REFRESH YOUR faith, but not with talking.
You have secretly refreshed your desires.
As long as desires are fresh, faith is not,
for it is desire that locks that gate.
MASNAVI I:1078-91
THE FAITHFUL believer bows willingly, seeking the good
pleasure of God and direction his life towards that.
The unbeliever worships God, unwillingly, but he
directs himself toward some other object of desire.
True, he keeps the King's fortress in good repair, but
he claims to be in command.
The faithful believer keeps that fortress in good repair
for the sake of the King, not for status or power.
MASNAVI II:2544-8
ALL OPPRESSION has turned into faithfulness,
all cloudiness to purity!
The attributes of human nature
have been annihilated,
The attributes of God have come!

PRAYER AND REMEMBRANCE OF GOD
I HAVE prayed so much that I have become a living prayer -
Everyone who meets me begs a prayer from me.

NEVER BE without the remembrance of God, for his remembrance provides the bird of the spirit with strength, feathers, and wings.

THE PURPOSE of ritual prayer is not that you should bow
and prostrate yourself all day. Its purpose is that you
should develop a prayerful attitude, maintaining the
spiritual state obtained in prayer at all times. Whether asleep
or awake, at work or rest, you should always remember God:
you should be one of those who "are constantly at their prayers."

PRAYER DOES not consist in forms alone. Formal prayer has a beginning and an end, like all forms and bodies and everything that involves speech and sound, but the soul is unconditional and infinite: it has neither beginning nor end ...Prayer is the drowning and unconsciousness of the soul, so that all these forms remain without. At that moment there is no room even for Gabriel, who is pure spirit. A person who prays is this way is exempt from all religious obligations, since he is deprived of this reason. Absorption of the self in divine unity is the soul of prayer.

words to lure the breath of that sweet One.
If you seek an answer from God
how then can you fail to pray?
How can you be silent, knowing He always replies to
your, "O Lord?" with, "I am here."
His answer is silent but you can feel it from head to toe.
