I dont think we will ever die. We are eternal. Even when fana we will continue to exist in him. I am trying to contemplate that state, the stage after fana. Everything is within me. So fana and baqa are also within me.
If it is within me then it is accessible to me. So its just a matter of time, but time is immaterial to him who is eternal. Hence it is my destiny.
We come from Allah and are returning to him. This is like the insurance policy that confirms to me my destiny which is Allah.

First we should know what is fana. I had a long discussion with different people,. Some of them are of the view that Fana and Baqa is almost the same thing. The word fana (Annihilation) signifies the annihilation of attributes of human nature and its tranformation into Divine Attributes. In state of fana, the Momin is completely immersed in the contemplation of the attributes of God and oblivious (forgetting) of his own self. BAQA (Subsistence) is the opposite of fana. It signifies the Momin acheiving baqa through the attributes of God after reaching the stage of fana.
Now in order to attain the muqam of baqa, one has to pass gradually through four stages of annihilation.
1. Annihilation in his effect
2. Annihilation in His act (Annihilation from one's act)
3. Annihilation in His attributes (Annihilation from one's attributes)
4. Annihilation in His essence
to be continued

Re: Fana And Baqa
Shamsu, On one side you quote Kalam from Kalame-e-mowla " main aur too ki dooi chhor......" and now you say "fana and baqa is within me". It still shows duality, from where comes "I"? Mansur said " I am the Truth". That is also duality as one is 'I' and other is 'Truth', no matter both are the same thing. "I" is saying and "Truth is listening. Then what happened "Pachhiy taine sargavi deva ma aviyo" ( K.I.M. 1) Everthing became quite. It means just nothing (LA) . Second thing, you said fana and baqa is within me. Now both fana and baqa can not be lived together at the same time. Actually there is a very very short interval of time ( or you can say no time) between them. One gets fana from the world and then gets BAQA in God Or you can say fana from world means Baqa in God. Both are just relative terms. With respect to World(Hasti or Wajud), you are fana, And with resoect to Absolute (Nisti), you are baqa. Just like A and B is outside the house. Now A enters the house to see C and close the door. With respect to B, A is disappeard (Say Fana) but in the meantime A is appeared (Say Baqa) with respect to C.shamsu wrote:Please would someone take this discussion higher.

Annihilation (Fana)
When Peace in the heart reaaches its utmost limit, naturally the Haqiqati momin no longer looks at his own essence. his awareness of his own selfhood is nullified. This is called the "greatest annihilation". And when he forgets himself and forgets even his forgetfulness then it is called "Annihilation within annihilation".
