MAXIMS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.S.)

Post by am »

The Prophet said:

"He who knows himself knows his lord.

"Your most ardent enemy is your false self (nafs) which resides within your body"

"You have returned from a smaller battle to a greater one". He was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the greatest battle"? The prophet replied: "Fighting your passionate self".

"The soul of a believer is bright and there is a bright lamp in it; the soul of an unbeliever is dark and blind".

"When Allah wants good of a servant, He appoints a warner in his soul. He who has a warner in his soul has a guard from Allah".

"The soul (nafs) is of four kinds. The first kind is bright in which there is a lighted lamp. It is the soul of a believer. The second kind of soul is black, and it is the soul of an unbeleiver. The third kind hides under a cover, and it is the soul of a hypocrite. The fourth kind is mixed with faith and hypocrisy. Faith in souch a soul is like a plant in which water helps it grow, and if there are other liquids like pus and blood in it, its growth is retarded".

"It is a diffusion of light that falls in the soul and the heart expands and spreads".

The prophet was asked: "Who is the best person?". The prophet replied: "The beleiver whose soul is Makmus is best". He was asked: "What is Makmus?". The prophet replied: "The soul is Makmus which is God-fearing, in which there is no deception, treachery, contrivance and hatred".

"There is no one among you in whom is not a devil". The companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah, does one reside in you?". The Prophet replied: "There is a devil in me, but Allah helped me to overcome it, and it has become submissive to me. It does not order me to do anything but good".

"A believer drives out his devil as one of you drives his camel on a journey".

"The devil comes to you and says, "Who created Allah?". When anyone feels that, he sould say "I believe in Allah and His messenger, Muhammad".

"The fear of Allah is here", pointing to the heart.

"A believer loves for others what he loves for himself".

"He who has in his heart pride to the weight of a mustard seed will not enter Paradise, and he who has in his heart faith to the weight of a mustard seed will not enter Hell".
