The Real Me

Post by noorani_786 »

The Real Me.

I am an outgoing, cool and funny person when I am with my friends.
I am polite, alert and a confident person when I am sitting in an interview.
I am a sweet, caring and charming person when I am talking to a girl.
Among all these different persons, who is the person that is the Real Me?
It is only in Meditation and Silence that I am the person that is Myself.

I had always wondered about this. Who is the Real Me? Am I the person who cracks up stupid jokes to make his friends and himself laugh? Or I am the person who is all quite and polite when having a conversation with his boss? Am I the one who is sometimes rude to his mom? Or am I the one who is amazingly sweet to other relatives? Am I the one who accepts his mistakes or the one whose ego prevents him for accepting that he is wrong? If I am an understanding person, then why is it that I am sometimes so stubborn? Am I this or am I that? Who am I? Who is the Real Me?

But today it dawned on me. Today I realized something that I have always known. I have always known it, because I have always read it. Or heard it. But today I actually understood it. The truth is that I am neither the one who is outgoing and funny, nor the one who is polite and quite. The truth is that I am not of this world. My true self is not of the material world, but of the spiritual. Therefore, I am neither white nor black; neither outgoing nor quite; neither rude nor polite. Because these traits are of this world and I am not of this world. My true self I will only find when I enter that other world. The one we call the spiritual world.
