In his holy Kalam E Mowla, Hazrat ALi mentions.

duniyâ din châr hay,
chêt tu(n) chhod jâyesee,
eesê bêch âkbat besâlê,
wey tujê kâm ayesee

this translates to

The world lasts four days,
take heed, you will leave it;
sell it and dwell in (the awareness of) the hereafter,
this will be useful to you.


What does the four days signify? is ther something special abou this number?

Char din/char divas is a fairly common metaphor in the subcontinent - it simply signifies the four stages of an average life viz infancy/childhood, adoloscence, adulthood and old age
