Struggle - A man's duty

Post by noorani_786 »

Hello all,

I recently read a statement quoted by Imam Sultan Mohammad Shah, it said: "Struggle is a part of life. Victory or Defeat is in the hand's of God. But struggle is a man's duty and he should enjoy it." I was wondering if anyone would like to share his/her thoughts how one is suppose enjoy struggle. What sort of attitude does is require of oneself to actually enjoy the process of struggling through life?

Thanks,
Nizar

STRUGGLE

Post by shamsu »

If i remember correctly the statement was

STRUGGLE IS THE MEANING OF LIFE
DEFEAT OR VICTORY IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD
BUT STRUGGLE ITSELF IS MANS DUTY AND SHOULD BE HIS JOY.

m.webster-----
Main Entry: [1]strug·gle
Pronunciation: 'str&-g&l
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): strug·gled; strug·gling /-g(&-)li[ng]/
Etymology: Middle English struglen
Date: 14th century
1 : to make strenuous or violent efforts against opposition : CONTEND
2 : to proceed with difficulty or with great effort

The way I see it the struggle of life is between whether my wish wins or Mowlas wish wins.

my will v/s Allah's will

the result is always Allah's will that wins.

My struggle is in aligning my will with Allah's and if I am successful in fulfilling this duty which translates into submission of my will to Allah's will I am sure I will find the Joy of Life.

hope this helps some

Shams,

After I spent some time reflecting, your words did help alot. Following is the conclusion I reached:

The problem is that we always think of everything in material terms. Struggle for more money, struggle to become famous, struggle to gain more power. But these are things that cannot give you true joy, hence it follows that there is no joy in the struggle to acquire them. However if the struggle is to reach Allah then one will find great joy in that struggle. Or, like you said, when one's will is aligned with Allah's he will find great job in the struggle to achieve whatever it is that Allah has willed.

Thanks again for your post.

To reach Allah is to be Allah

I am not sure if we are all ready for this but your name noorani_786 seems to suggest you probably are.

You mentioned "to reach Allah.." and you also mentioned thinking in material terms....

Lets stop for a second and reflect on ...Thinking.

Is the act of thinking material or spiritual.

Imam SMS in Farman ".....khayal tnya ponchi sakae cche..."

And if we succeed in aligning our will to Allahs will (which in current times is Mowla's will) would we not become one with Allah, therefore Allah.

I dont want to get into this topic deep as it can drown us all into nothingness unless we are ready to leap into this void, this nothingness of Allah.

Struggle

Post by shamsu »

The way I understand struggle is that it becomes an issue when two forces are not perfectly aligned.

The struggle we have in this world is to align our selves with Mowla bapas farmans. worldly as well as spiritualy our Imam guides us and our struggle will always be. "Should I do what I want to do or what my Imam has instructed me to do"

The matter can also be a worldly issue.
