Read the Quran or follow the speaking Quran.

Post by samirziz »

Hazar Imam is the speaking Quran, therefore his word is the word of God.
Should we then not read the Quran?

Thanks!

Of course we should read the Quran. Didin't MHI tell us recently in East Africa. But he has also said that we should study parts of the Quran and be selective and use our intellects in this regard and not to accept it at its face value.

For student there is need of book as well as of teacher.

Following are some verses of Ginan about Quran:

"The right knowledge has come from Ali and His progeny as it is borne by the Holy Quran and the Holy Quran has come from God Himself and the proof of all that is really here in Satpanth."
(Moman Chetmani verse 16, Syed Imam Shah)

"Know Prophet Muhammad, then you will attain Imam. only a Kaafir has polytheistic tendencies in his/her heart but a momin's heart is enlightened by Quran."
(Allah aik khasam Sabuka verse 2, Pir Hassan Kabirdin)

"The holy Quran should be understood for it is interpreted by the Nabi for you." (Buj Niranjan, Pir Sadardin)

"O momins if one engages in study of Quran, he/she will know that the mercy of religion is physically seated as the tenth manifestation of the Lord." (Aarti nani verse 4, Pir Sadardin)

What does it mean in the above verse in the Ginan by Pir Sadardin when he says that Nabi has interpreted the Quran? Is Nabi in reference to the Pir? The reason I am saying is because I remember a hadith where Prophet Muhammad (saaws) says that Mowla Ali will fight for the taawil of the Quran as he had fought for the tanzil - Now tanzil is the exoteric or the revelation and taawil is the interpretation or esoteric meaning is it not? So is our Pir giving reference to the ginans which are the taawil or really Prophet Muhammad(saaws)?

I think it refers to Prophet Muhammad but again there can be more meanings.
From Bhuj Nirinjan:

Accept the day of judgment as truth and all the other teachings.
The holy Qur'an should be understood for it is interpreted by the Nabi for you.
If you will recognize the Nabi's Marifat (truth) then you will be able to recognize the Lord.

Which translation?

Post by fuzzykar »

I agree that a critical examination of the quranic text is important in contemplating a life led in Islam. Does anyone know if there is an english translation recognized by MHI as the standard for ismailis?

Thanks in advance for your help.

From where I am standing I see Quran as well as Hazar Imam are speaking, when u read Quran it speaks to us as well when we read or listen Farman they speak to us…. Both teaches us and Guides us internally and externally, and also help us to understand past and present to work for future! Its all depend on individual capacity to understand Quran and Imam’s word I think both help us to understand The Creator and His Creation; so I think if one can understand both they must read both doesn’t complicate them self but I don’t mean to say stop reading one!

In August 2007 during the East African visit, Hazar Imam reminded us that there are thousands and thousands of interpretations of the Quran but for us the Imam is the one that gives the proper interpretation through changing times.

As for the expression Speaking Quran, it relates to a specific historical documented event [Siffin] when Hazrat Ali said He was the Speaking Quran.
