What is the difference between Allah and His Light?

Let us debate whether there is any distinction between Allah and His Light (Nur).

In my opinion, there is a difference between Allah and His Nur. For me, Allah's Essence is Unknowable and He is beyond all things. For me, the Nur of Allah is the Universal Intellect (Aql-i Kull). This Nur is the Supreme Name of Allah, and His Veil. It veils Him yet at the same time it makes Him Manifest. His Nur was the only thing that was Originated by Him. The Nur of Allah is equivalent to His Command "Be". The Nur is the Primordial Theophany of Allah. The rest of Creation emanated from His Nur.

The whole point of my belief has similarities with Neo-Platonic thought of the Fatimid/Alamut periods. Basically, Allah Himself cannot be known, we can only perceive his Nur.

i think allah is itself noor. Noor is Allah,
According to Quran Allah is NOOR of earth and heavens.
Allah has no physical body.

Allah is beyond our imaginations our human mind and intellect.

His Farman is Noor which leads us to him

Sure Allah is Noor but The NOOR IS A MANIFESTATION OF ALLAH.

AND HE IS ABOVE ALL ELSE

I somewhat agree with you.

Allah is Unknowable and Beyond. Allah is the Hidden One.

The Noor is what makes Him Manifest. Nur is His Name and His Will. Yet, it also Veils what is Hidden.

Nur is the Universal Intellect. Nur was the first Originated Being, while Allah is the Originator.

Nur is Creator of the Universe.

Allah includes and trancends His Nur, but His Nur does not include/trancend him.

The Imam is Epiphany of Nur in this physical plane.

Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth.
It is in Sura Noor that
Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth; His light is as a niche in which is a lamp, and the lamp is in a glass, the glass is as though it were a glittering star; it is lit from a blessed tree, an Olive neither of east nor of the west, the oil of which would well-nigh give light though no fire touched it,-light upon light;-Allah guides to His light whom He pleases; and Allah strikes out parables for men; and Allah all things doth know.

We all tend to think of Allah as a light but that is a shifati name AN NUR.

The Zaati name is the one that describes the asl/origin in the real sense.

If we wanna become asl me vaasal we have to become one with the zaati name.
This means to go from dhyan to dharan of the sat shabd.

Please refer to buj niranjan also.

Girbavali states there was dhandukaal from which came Alakh and from Alakh came Niranjan. So would you say that alakh and niranjan are descriptive /shifati names?

one that is the most important thing is that we all make mistakes in understanding allah and his light. i think it is same thing. allah is present in every human body. if he wants to give his "didar", then he shows his noor or light. some time question is asked that who is imam? we reply it "he is noor of god." that way we consider god and imam seperately. god is by itself noor, that means imam is noor of noor. that is wrong. ali is allah. i think there is no difference between god and imam. its a very controversial topic that does imam is god?  but i think imam is god. we don't tell this among our muslim brothers because they can'tunderstand what we believe in. i recall one of the event during imam SMS, when he came to pakistan and imam gave a speech, where muslims gave enormous support and praise our imam for his efforts in construction of pakistan. after that one of the mukhi asked imam that  aaj musulmanoon kaa joosh daikh kaar bohat khushi hoi. then imam replied that yes, aakhir woo maire nana ki ummat hain magar tum hum koo jis nazar se daikhte hoo, woo uss nazar se hamain nahein daikhte or hum tum ko jis nazar se daikhtain hain, hum unhain uss nazar se nahein daikhtai.
