Even in the most simple statement of human creation that is mentioned in the Qur'an, evolution is implied:

'We initiated your creation (khalaqa), and then we shaped you...' (7:11)

"Has there not been an endless time span when humans were not even a thing thought of? Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled (with the female ovum)...We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight (ie; wisdom and reason)." (76:1-2)

The Muslim evolutionists make the comment that the phrase used for 'a thing thought of,' implies the human existence at a time when it was nothing special. They contend that this can only imply that before humans were in a different form, since the creation of them is in the next verse. There are some almost identical verses which can be interpreted in two ways. Neither way explicitly contradicts evolution, though one interpretation leans more towards evolution and the other leans more towards creation. One example of this is:

'...will you blaspheme against Him who has created you out of dust and then out of a drop of sperm and in the end has fashioned you into a human?' (18:37)

This can be interpreted to refer to the initial act of creation, or as two both the initial creation and the successive one which happens daily. If it refers to the initial creation, then the first human was conceived like any other human and therefore had parents. The Muslim scientists of the past looked at this verse, along with scientific evidence, and interpreted it this way. There is also another repeated verse which can also be interpreted as either referring to the initial creation or the daily creation:

"What ails you that you hope not towards Allah with dignity when he created you by stages? ........And Allah has caused you to grow as a growth from earth." 71:13-14

There is one verse, which is almost identically repeated throughout the whole of the Qur'an, which explicitly states what the evolutionists say about the origins of life:

'And it is God who has created all life from the water...'

“If (God) wills He destroys you and in your place appoints whom He wills, as your successor, just as He brought your forth, from the descendants of other people.” 6/133

“Verily, We created them and strengthened them, and when we willed, We replaced them completely by people who were not of the same kind.” 76/28

When Evolution began, the Imam was present in the world:

“When there was nothing but fish on earth, God stood as Witness and you must have no doubt to that kind of witness from above.”
- Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah, (Mission Conference, Dar-es-Salaam, 1945)

Bible: Genesis 1:
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. AND THE SPIRIT OF GOD MOVED UPON THE FACE OF THE WATERS.

Psalms 29:3 – the Voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of Glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

Psalms 29:10 – The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King forever.

Quran 11:7 “He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days - AND HIS THRONE WAS OVER THE WATERS - that He might manifest to you, which of you is best in conduct. But if thou were to say to them, "Ye shall indeed be raised up after death", the Unbelievers would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious sorcery!"”

The Quran and the Bible both reveal that shortly after the creation, the Lord God manifested, and his dwelling place was in the waters. The Quran explicitly states that the Throne of God, which refers to the Imamat, was over the waters. This illustrates the fact that even when the process of evolution began with the protoplasm, the Imam of the Time was physically present as the highest form of life on the earth.

Hi..I'm somewhat confused because some of the quotes here represent evolution, such as:
“Verily, We created them and strengthened them, and when we willed, We replaced them completely by people who were not of the same kind.” 76/28
.
However, other quotes focus more on creationism:
Quran 11:7 “He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days - AND HIS THRONE WAS OVER THE WATERS - that He might manifest to you, which of you is best in conduct. But if thou were to say to them, "Ye shall indeed be raised up after death", the Unbelievers would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious sorcery!"”
...Personally speaking, I believe in both I guess; that God initially started the creation of man and earth, but I do think us evolving from the same ancestor of apes is very possible. What are ya'lls opinions about this?

Also, a lot of the quotes place a strong emphasis on water- what is the significant of water in evolution or creationism?
