Do We Really Believe In "Diversity Is Strength"??

<P>In a farman Molana Hazir Imam elaborate the importance of different traditions, languages and different historical backgrounds of our jamat. Mola insisted to well come and to respect different traditions."""It is upon us now to well come their traditions and ensure them that their traditions will be understand and respected, if any interpretation is required in this regard the imam of the time will interpret it and it is the imam of the time who have the authority to solve such problems . I want you (jamat) to know the fact that there are a lot of different people specking different languages having different traditions. We must be pleased from this diversity, it is our strength we have to well come these traditions and help them"". India , 11 nov. 1992.</P><P>In another farman mola said""On a many occasion I have insisted that you should remember Ginnan and know its meaning and let it to take root in your hearts, it is important for the jamat no matter which part of the world they belongs to.""Karachi, 16 Dec, 1964.</P><P>Through these farman its become obvious that how much Ginnan/traditions placed importance in our tariqa . it is a sources through which a momin can establish link with his Imam o&shy;n the o&shy;ne hand and it helps the jamat( lit rate or illiterate ) to understand the fundamental beliefs of the religion o&shy;n the other . </P><P>Then why the jamat in Hunza are not allowed to recite Burushaski Ginnan even in Hunza which is accepted by Mola hazir Imam in 1961 in a special taliqa.</P>

I think you are trying to connect to very different farmans. The ginans are the foundation for a cretin origin/region of jamet and it servers/reinforces their belief systems according to their surroundings.
I can give you an example (very brief) from my personal heritage where it is understood that The Imam is a Leader/Head of the faith (Ismaili-faith), He is human but extraordinary yet not supreme-being (God) and as for pirs they were missionaries who were sent to expand the religious/political base in the region.
Now you must understand that what The Imam was trying to explain to the Indian Jamet that the (Indian-origin) jamet must understand that they must not impose/insist that their traditions are the only correct tradition within Ismaili faith. There are other (non-Indian origin) Jamets that have different traditions and that those traditions are also acceptable to Imam. However, there are many changes to come that will uniform all Jamets, just as the present Dua, although I have heard several versions (not accents or net miss pronounced words) of Dua in any given JKs in US; When I questioned, I was told that people like to end each part the same way and I understand their love for The Imam but I do not think that it is proper for them to add or change things. I know few here will try to get me into the debate but to them I suggest pay attention to the Dua in their JKs over period of time the notice.

Just as qasidas are universal and applicable to all Jamats, regardless of the historical background, ginans are applicable to all Jamats. There is no difference in preference. It is only a matter of convenience and understandability that one tradition is preferred over the other, but all traditions are equally valuable to our Jamat. There is strength in diversity.

In the light of quoted faramins it become clear that imam wants jamat to well come other traditions, languages etc the but what I observed as given in example show that still jamat is very far to understand” diversity is strength” and to well come other traditions” may Mola give us understanding and practices the faramins in real sense.ameen

Diversity is strength at the same time if a person doesn’t understand it diversity may become confusion. To avoid such situations Jamat is always unifies, Dua or Ginans are standardised inside Jamatkhana for example how it will be when you do Dua in Burushaski, I in French other in Arabic doesn’t it confuse u if u visit Jamat in other regions. That’s y all has to follow the pattern specified but should have clear understanding of Dua or Ginans they practice.

Understanding Ginans does help in establishing link with Imam but it’s not the only source and if someone has knowledge of Ginans he can’t be rated literate or illiterate. As one of Imam Farman says “a Momim is a one who has faith he doesn’t need to be philosopher”

Yes I agree with you that they are many who have made them selves limited when it comes to accepting other traditions, culture and also new converts. There is Farman in which Imam's says that all are many children and to stop discrimination among yourselves but these things still exists it becomes more important for us to submit ourselves totally to Imam’s Farmans on the bases of our commitment (faith) not on the bases of martial world.

shukhar that we know how to respect differences. I think sunnis need to hear this more than us though.

Excuse me brother,

It’s not just Sunnis who need! It’s a human need; it’s not just for Sunni but also for Non Sunnis. If I have to put this in my words then I think Ismaili due to past problem and prosecution are not ready to trust Non ismailies and Non Ismaili due to different perception of faith are not able to understand that we all are humans and are Allah creature…

I would like to put forward a hadiths….

Prophet Ibrahim had a habit of having dinner with guest (like someone who is travelling from one place to other or someone who is need of food)… once a man above 45 yrs, who was travelling meet Prophet and Prophet invited him for Dinner…. On dastar (table) Prophet introduced Himself as Prophet of Allah and the man said I don’t believe in Allah, my god is Sun and I pray to sun… Prophet got angry at him and said if u want to eat food u must start by Allah name… man replied if its so then I will prefer not to eat and he left Prophet’s place… immediately Gibreal aly salam came and gave Allah’s message… which said Ibrahim when the man doesn’t accept me as His creator I gave him food for more than 45 yrs… when he doesn’t have faith in me I gave him respect than what makes u not respect him and give Food…. Prophet Ibrahim understood his mistake and bought that man back to have dinner….

I have hear this hadiths in mosque… its very rare that people understand Allah… it will take us years to narrow gap between Ismailies and Non Ismailies…I have read some excellent work of Sunni scholars which is appreciable and which narrows to some extent this gap… if u want I can send u a book of Dr Tahir ul qadri on Declaration of Ghadir… its an attempt made by him to bridge gap between Sunnis and shias…

Don’t be so sure that only Sunnis need to learn… my experience is different from urs lets not discuss it but I think all human need to learn and if u have knowledge share it and help others…
